Instructions
Make the bottom of the box
1.1 Cut out two templates - one for the top (on the left) and another for the bottom (on the right).
1.2 Draw a horizontal line around the soap about 6 mm (1/4") away from the top.
1.3 Horizontally cut the soap along the line with a paring knife.
1.4 Place the template for the bottom on the soap and trace the heart shape.
1.5 Lightly cut the heart shape with a carving knife.
1.6 Roughly cut the heart shape with the paring knife.
1.7 Cut off the excess soap with the carving knife.
1.8 Trim the edge of the bottom.
1.9 Smooth the top of the soap.
1.10 Trace around the edge of the template.
1.11 Lightly cut the heart shape.
1.12 Holding the knife horizontally to the soap, thinly cut the soap inside the heart shape.
1.13 Draw a heart shape inside the carved heart. Leave about 3 mm (1/8") gap from the carved heart.
1.14 Deeply cut the heart shape and remove soap around it.
1.15 Scoop out the soap inside the heart using various sculpting tools.
Make the lid
2.1 Slice off the soap to create a smooth surface.
2.2 Using the template for the top, trace around the edge of the heart shape.
2.3 Cut out the heart shape.
2.4 Trim the edge of the top.
2.5 Cut off the excess soap if the lid is too big.
2.6 The simple heart shaped box is done!
Make the openwork heart
3.1 Scoop out inside the top lid until it is 3 mm (1/8") thick.
3.2 Using the template for the top, trace the pattern onto the soap.
3.3 Cut out the pattern along the lines.
3.4 Lightly cut the lines of the bow and remove the soap around them.
3.5 (Optional) Glue the pearl beads and/or rhinestones.
3.6 The openwork heart box is done!
