Instructions

Method 1: Carve a 3D rose from outer petals

1.1 Cut the soap in half. Trim and shape half a bar of soap into a bowl shape.
Divide the top of the soap into 5 equal parts by marking small lines with a point of the knife.
step 1.1
1.2 Cut a round petal shape that is a bit bigger than one-fifth of the outside in the soap. Then cut off the soap between petal and the center.
step 1.2
1.3 Smooth the area where you will start to carve the second petal.
The first petal of the first row is done.
step 1.3
1.4 Carve the second petal in the same way as the first petal.
The second petal slightly overlaps the edge of the first petal.
step 1.4
1.5 Repeat previous step for next three petals.
step 1.5
1.6 Once the fifth petal is done, smooth around the center of the flower.
Then round the edge of the center a little. Don't shape it like a dome and don't move the knife in a circular motion.
step 1.6
1.7 Carve the five petals of the second row.
The first petal is placed between the first petal and the fifth petal of the first row.
step 1.7
1.8 Carve the next petals the same way as the first row.
step 1.8
1.9 Once the second row is done, thinly cut off the top of the center and shape it into a dome.
Then carve the first petal of the third row.
step 1.9
1.10 Once the third row is done, shape the center into a dome.
Then carve the five petals of the fourth row.
step 1.10
1.11 Shape the center into a dome. Carve the fifth row if you'd like.
Trim the outer petals as needed. Your 3D rose is done.
step 1.11

Method 2: Carve a 3D rose from the center of a rose

2.1 Roughly cut the soap into a circle.
Then thinly cut off the top of the soap if your soap is too thick.
step 2.1
2.2 Draw a circle for the center of the rose using the point of the knife or a pointed tool.
Holding your knife at a right angle at the top of the soap, deeply cut the circle.
Then thinly cut off the soap all around the circle to create a cylinder shape.
step 2.2
2.3 Make the circular groove the same depth.
Round the edge of the center a little. Don't shape it like a dome and don't move the knife in a circular motion.
step 2.3
2.4 Carve the petals of the center in the same way as in steps 1.7 to 1.10.
step 2.4
2.5 Cut off the outer part of the soap and divide it into 5 equal parts by marking a small lines.
Then carve a shallow trench that is a bit larger than the one-fifth of the outer part.
step 2.5
2.6 Cut a round petal shape inside the shallow trench then thinly cut off the soap under the petal.
Repeat this for the other four petals.
The first layer of the outer petals is done.
step 2.6
2.7 Cut off the outer part of the soap.
Carve the first petal of the second layer. The first petal is placed between the first petal and fifth petal of the first layer.
step 2.7
2.8 Carve the other four petals.
Then cut off the outer part of the soap.
step 2.8
2.9 Carve the five petals of the third layer in the same way as the previous layer.
step 2.9
2.10 Gradually cut off the soap to separate the rose from the bottom of the soap.
Your 3D rose is done!
step 2.10

Optional steps: Make a holder for two roses

3.1 Decorate the bar soap with 3D roses and leaves.
step 3.1
3.2 Make a small recess in the soap with a spoon.
step 3.2
3.3 Apply a little water to the top of the soap.
Then place the roses on the soap. Hold them with your fingers for a little while to fix them.
step 3.3
3.4 Carve a few leaves out of the piece of the soap.
Level the bottom of the leaves to fit the top of the soap.
step 3.4
3.5 Apply a little water to the top of the soap and place the leaves on the soap.
Hold them with your fingers for a little while to fix them.
Finished!
