This is a simple method for carving a pretty rose.
Carrot roses can be used as garnish in various dishes
you can use other vegetables, fruits, or soap instead of a carrot.

Instructions
1. Cut the carrot into a 3 cm(1-1/4") thick slice.
2. Draw a circle on the top of the carrot with a point of the knife. Holding your carving knife vertically to the top of the carrot, then deeply cut along the circle line.
3. Holding your knife a bit at angle, cut off the carrot around the inside or ouside(either is fine) of the circle by deeply cutting along the circle and a cylinder shape will be created.
4. Cut around the top edege of the cyliner a bit to round the top edge.
5. Carve the first petal: Cut a round petal shape in the side of the cylinder. The petal is slightly bigger than one-fifth of the circumference of the circle.Then cut off inside the petal.
6. Carve the second petal: Smooth the place that you will carve the petal in, and cut a round petal shape in the sameway as previous step. The second petal slightly overlaps the first petal.
7. Carve the third petal in the same way as the second petal(previous step).
8. Carve the fourth petal in the same way too.
9. Carve the fifth petal. It overlaps both the first petal and the fouth petal.
10. Shape the center into a dome shape.
11. Carve small five petals in the dome in the same way as step 5 to 9. Then shape the center into a small dome shape as needed. The center bud is done.
12. Cut all around the center bud. Dividing the edge of the carrot into five equal segments and draw five marks with the point of the knife.
13. Thinly Cut off the carrot around the center bud to make a shallow indentation. The indentation is slightly bigger than the segment(one-fifth of the circumference of carrot).
14. Carve the first outer petal: Cut a round petal shape inside the indentation.Then cut off outside the petal.
15. Carve the second outer petal: Make a shallow indentation and carve a round petal in the sameway as step 13 and 14. The second petal slightly overlaps the first petal.
16. Carve the third petal and fourth outer petal in the sameway,too.
17. Carve the fifth outer petal. It overlaps both the first petal and the fourth petal.
18. Cut all around the edge of the carrot slice.
19. Smooth the outside of the carrot slice.
20. Carve the first petal of the second outer layer: Cut a round petal shape on the outside of the carrot.Then cut off under the petal.The first petal is slightly bigger than one-fifth of the circumference of carrot.
21. Carve the second petal that slightly overlaps the first petal.
22. Carve the third petal and fourth petal in the same way as the second petal.
23. Carve the fifth petal that overlaps both the first petal and the fourth petal.
24. Carefully insert the knife into the bottom of the rose and cut off the excess carrot rotating the rose.All done!
25. I made a rose with a stem and leaves in carrot. This is a variation of the carrot rose.
