1. Slice off the top of the soap.
2. Draw a 2 cm (7/8") diameter circle with a toothpick.
3. Holding your carving knife at a right angle to the soap, deeply cut the circle.
4. Thinly cut off the soap inside the circle.
5. Trim the side of the center and smooth the soap around it.
6. Lower the top of the center a bit.
7. Insert the knife tip diagonally into the center, then make an inverted cone shaped indent.
8. Cut some slits in the edge of the center to create the stamens.
9. Draw a 3.3 cm (1-3/8") diameter circle, then divide it into 6 equal parts.
10. Make two straight cuts from the center.
11. Cut the soap between two cuts along the circle.
12. Cut the soap again to remove the soap as shown.
13. Repeat steps 8-10 in order to carve a long petal.
14. Repeat steps 8-11 to carve the remaining five parts.
15. Cut each part into a pointed petal shape.
16. Trim the outside of the petals. Six petals of the first layer are done.
17. Draw a 5 cm (2") diameter circle, then divide the circle into 6 equal parts.
18. Carve the second layer in the same way as the first layer.
19. Cut the soap around the second layer horizontally.
20. Cut each part into a pointed petal shape.
21. Trim the outside of the petals. Six petals of the second layer are done.
22. Divide the area around the second layer into 6 or 8 equal parts. Then, cut the pointed petal shapes in each part.
23. Cut off the soap between the petals, holding your knife horizontally.
24. Slice off the bottom of the flower as needed.
25. Lower the areas between petals.
26. Cut the areas between the petals into pointed petal shapes. These petals form the fourth layer.
27. Remove the unwanted soap between the petals of the fourth layer.
28. Trim the outside of the petals of the third and fourth layer. I suggest using leftover flakes for washing.
29. (Optional) Paint the center with yellow food coloring or soap colorant.
