Instructions

Carve the gnome

1.1 Cut out the gnome template. Thinly cut off the top of the soap to create a flat surface.

1.2 Trace the gnome template onto your soap with a toothpick.
Lightly cut along the outline so it doesn't disappear.

1.3 Cut out the gnome's shape with a paring knife and a carving knife.

1.4 Holding your carving knife at a right angle to the soap, cut along the nose.
Then, holding your knife at a closer angle to the soap and cut off the soap around the nose.
Carve the beard the same way as the nose.

1.5 Cut the soap between body and the arm, then cut off the the excess soap to create an arm. Carve the side(under the hat) and the back as well.

1.6 Carve the cuff and the hand, then shape them.

1.7 Repeat two previous steps to create the other arm and hand.

1.8 Cut off the soap under the hat in the back.
Round the edge of the body.

1.9 Round the edge of the hat, and carve the cuff of the hat.

(Optional) Decorate your gnome

2.1 Apply face wash to the beard, then let it dry.

2.2 Put stickers on the gnome. I made floral gnomes.
