Instructions

Carve the Christmas gnome

1.1 Cut your soap in half as needed.
Thinly cut off the top of the soap to create a flat surface.

1.2 Cut out the Christmas Gnome template.
Trace it onto your soap with a toothpick.

1.3 Lightly cut along the outline so it doesn't disappear.
Cut out the gnome's shape with a paring knife and a carving knife.

1.4 Holding your carving knife straight up, cut along the nose.
Then, holding your knife at a closer angle to the soap, cut off the soap around the nose.
Round the edge as needed.

1.5 Carve the mustache the same way as the nose.

1.6 Carve the beard the same way.

1.7 Carve the bottom edge of the hat.

1.8 Thinly cut off the soap under the beard and mustache in the front side and under the hat in the back side.

1.9 Cut off the excess soap from the side of the body to create an arm.

1.10 Carve the cuff and the hand.

1.12 Round the edges of the body.

(Optional) Decorate your Christmas gnome

2.1 Paint your gnome with food coloring diluted with water, then let it dry.

Apply nail polish to the nose and hands.
